President Jokowi Asks for Calculations on the Risk of Weakening the Global Economy until 2021
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked to be recalculated in detail about the risks of weakening the global economy. Where is the result of the outbreak of the Corona Virus that occurred in early 2020 and the possibility of further economic impacts in 2021.
"Then, the mitigation measures that we undertake in 2020 must be strengthened again for 2021," said President Jokowi when giving direction at the Limited Meeting (Ratas) on Macroeconomic Framework and the Fiscal Policy Highlights of 2020 and the Government Work Plan for the Year of 2020 2021 citing Setkab, Jakarta, Monday (03/09/2020).
The President hopes that the 2021 Fiscal Policy Draft prepared will strengthen the resilience of the national economy, overcome various risks that may arise, and be able to protect the country's economy from global economic turmoil.
"Even though we face global economic pressures, we must still be optimistic. Our economic growth in 2019 reached 5.02% last year, this growth is quite good amid the uncertainty of the global situation and the possibility of a recession that has occurred in several countries, "the President said.
In the final part, the President requested that in 2021 the trade balance and current account deficit should be reduced so that there are priorities for the development of the import substitution industry, continuing the bioenergy policy to the B 40-B 50 programs, and formulating breakthrough steps in order to increase oil lifting.
"We will continue to strengthen superior human resources through education, health programs, vocational training through pre-employment cards, and also poverty alleviation," concluded the President at the end of his introduction.
